Chase away those winter blues with great books! The Snowflake Reading Club will run from Jan.31 until Feb. 28. All kids just need to sign up at the circulation desk and get a reading log. Readers (and listeners) will earn stickers for every five books. All those that finish will receive and certificate and prizes.

Hot Reads for Cold Nights for Adults -
All adult readers will have a chance of winning during the annual Hot Reads program at the library in February. Every week there will be stuffed Hot Reads mugs given to lucky drawing winners. There will also be prizes every week for special categories. Visit the library often and check out reading material.

One Community Many Mysteries -
Meet Minnesota’s mystery authors William Kent Krueger, Carl Brookins, and Ellen Hart.
Come see the “Minnesota Crime Wave” at the Hibbing Public Library on Thursday, March 31, at 6 p.m. This mysterious and fun-filled program is brought to you by the Minnesota Library
Legacy Fund. There’s almost no truth to the rumor that the members of the Minnesota Crime Wave met because they have the same parole officer. Established in 2000, they have toured the country several times. These three authors have published more than 30 novels and have
received nearly two dozen local, regional and national awards for their writing.

Ellen Hart, a trained chef, is author of the Jane Lawless mystery series, which features a culiculinary detective. Her newest in the series is Cruel Ever After which was published in December 2010.

Carl Brookins, a former academic and an avid sailor, is the author of three mystery
series. The Tanner- Whitney series features a married pair of sailing sleuths. Devil’s Island is
his latest mystery.

William Kent Krueger writes the Cork O’Connor mystery series, which is set in the great northwoods of Minnesota and features a protagonist who is part Irish and part Ojibwe. His stories often deal with the clash of cultures. His latest Cork O’Connor book is Vermilion
Drift.
