City Board & Commission Openings

The City of Hibbing is currently seeking dedicated and interested residents
of Hibbing to serve on the following Boards and Commission of City
Government. Your commitment and ideas to help advise the elected and
appointed officials is needed on matters which promote and maintain the
continued healthy growth of the community.

PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES: The purpose is to see that adequate funds are obtained for good library service; to promote the best possible use of all library resources in the area, to improve the library, and extend library service to those not previously serviced and is composed of a seven member board, appointed by the Mayor for terms of three years. Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m.
Vacancy: There are three (3) Vacancies for a three-year term

FIREFIGHTER CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION:
The purpose is for selection and promotion of Public Safety personnel under the authority of MN Statutes Chapter 419 and amendments thereto and is composed of a three member board appointed for terms of three years. Meetings are held as needed.
Vacancy: There is one (1) Vacancy for a three-year term

PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD: The purpose of the board is to advise the Council as to the management and operation of the parks and recreation facilities in the City and is composed of seven members appointed for terms of three years. Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month at 4:30 p.m.
Vacancy: There are three (3) Vacancies for a three-year term

POLICE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION: The purpose is for selection and promotion of Public Safety personnel under the authority of MN Statutes Chapter 419 and is composed of three members appointed for terms of three years. Meetings are held as needed.
Vacancy: There are three (3) Vacancies for a three-year term.

PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION: The purpose is to develop policy and oversee management of the City of Hibbing Public Utility System and is composed of three members appointed for terms of three years. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 3:30 p.m.
Vacancy: There is one (1) Vacancy for a three-year term

TELEVISION CABLE COMMISSION - HPAT: The purpose is to propose to the Council such rules and regulations for the cable communications system and consists of five members.
Vacancy: One (1) Vacancy for a term through March 31, 2012
One (1) Vacancy for a term through March 31, 2013
One (1) Vacancy for a term through March 31, 2014

If your application is on file in the Council Office, please inform the Administrative/Council Assistant of your interest to again be considered for appointment at 362-5990.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE in the Council Office on Wednesday, February 9, 2011.
Appointments will be made at the City Council meeting on Wednesday, February 16, 2011.
