Summer Reading Program

The Hibbing Public Library Summer Reading program will begin on Monday, June 1, 2009.

Story Time - Tuesdays, June 1 through July 30. 10:00 am (25-60 minutes) A program for pre-schoolers with books, songs and the “Letter of the Week.” Crafts and open play if time permits.
Toddle Time - Thursdays, June 1 through July 30. 10:00 am (15-60 minutes) A program for toddlers with books, songs and tactile play. Open play if time permits.
Craft Time - Wednesdays, June 10-July 29. 9:00 am-noon The Craft Van from Parks & Recreation will make a regular stop at the library. All ages are welcome.
Hans Mayer - Monday June 8. 4:00 pm (45 minutes) Hans performs his humorous, ear-tickling, child-oriented music with an irresistible sense of play.
Minnesota Zoomobile - Thursday, June 18. 10:00 am (60 minutes) The Minnesota Zoo will be here to show off some favorite species of birds, lizards and mammals.
Puppet Show - Thursday, July 2. 10:00 am & 1:30 pm (45 minutes, program repeats) Local drama group will present a puppet show suitable for all ages.
Amazing Charles - Thursday, July 9. 11:00 am (45 minutes) Magician Amazing Charles brings his kid-friendly act to the library.
Harry Potter Film Festival - July 13-17. 1:30 pm each day (3 hours) Get caught up all the Harry Potter films on the library’s big screen before the July 17 release of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” With free popcorn!

Prisoner of Azkaban, Wednesday, 7/15
Goblet of Fire, Thursday, 7/16
Order of the Phoenix, Friday, 7/17
Wonder Weavers - Friday, July 24. 10:00 am (1 hour) In this lively program your favorite stories and books come alive with their unique blend of storytelling.
Cheney & Mills - Tuesday, July 28. 3:00 pm (45 minutes) This husband and wife juggling team will amaze everyone with their fun and funny performance.

Last day to get a reading record is Friday, July 24. No new records will be handed out after this date. All reading records must be turned in and prizes picked up no later than Friday, August 1. Last day of Summer Reading Program, Friday July 31, 2009. You must turn in your reading record by 5 pm on this date to receive prizes. Dylan Days

Dylan Days will be held May 21-24, 2009.

This year takes on special meaning as the 50th anniversary of Robert Zimmerman's graduation from Hibbing High School. The Dylan Days 2009 schedule has been announced and will be updated until the event.

Over the past eight years Dylan Days has built a grassroots tradition including the singer/songwriter contest, writing contest and literary showcase, one act playwright contest, visual arts competition, Bobby Zimmerman bus tour, live music series and the Hibbing Arts Council Dylan Days Benefit Concert, along with several other annual events.
