Fireworks Tips from the Police and Fire Deparment

Yearly, area emergency rooms treat injuries caused by fireworks. Your 4th of July celebration could end in serious injury if illegal fireworks are used. Fireworks that explode or move under their own power are illegal to use or have regardless of where they were purchased.

Legal fireworks include caps for cap guns, toy snakes, sparklers and devices that spray confetti, streamers or sparks. If children are in or around fireworks, please keep them under close supervision.

Fireworks are always a fun way to spend the 4th of July, but so many people are injured each year by illegal fireworks. Please think twice before allowing your children to play with fireworks.

Many local fireworks shows will happen over the weekend let the professionals launch the real fireworks while you sit back and relax!
