Digging for Your Roots Genealogy Conference

Minnesota Discovery Center will host the 28th annual conference on Saturday, Oct 17, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The conference is for genealogical researchers of all levels and cultural resource professionals and is organized and hosted by Range Genealogical Society (RGS) and the Discover Center Research Library. This years theme is "On the Right Track" and emphasized personal stories of discover and success.

Features speakers are:
  • Lou Mattson who tracked one family from the old country to the United States and followed their stories through generations.
  • Doug Morrison Cleary will discuss the use of DNA in tracing genealogies.
  • Iron Range History Players will present the story of Laurel Sherman, a rural Minnesota school teacher from 1910 to 1920.
  • Dr. Melissa Steware will present "Mercy's Story: Uncovering a Quilt's Creator"
  • Lauren Nickisch will speak about the "Hephzibeth: Woman of Iron"
