Support the Community!

Hibbing Little Ones Indoor Playpark - Thursday, August 19, we will be hosting a garage sale at 3014 2nd Ave West from 8am-4pm. All proceeds will go towards Hibbing Kiwanis Little Ones Indoor Park equipment.

Friday, August 27 at noon at the Mesaba Country Club registration fee is $300 per 4-person team. Event includes golf, dinner, and prize drawings. Contact Gary at the Golf course to reserve a cart. All proceeds go the towards indoor play park equipment. For more information call Brian at 929-1235. The 2010 Mosquito Run motorcycle ride to support Special Olympics Minnesota will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21. The event is sponsored by the Brick Yard, 408 E. Howard St., Hibbing. Registration will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Brick Yard. The ride departs rain or shine at 11:30 a.m. Preregistration fee is $25, with the day of registration fee at $10. Registration includes T-shirt for the first 100 registrations, breakfast, chance to win gift certificates at each stop and burger bar at the Brick Yard at the end of the ride. Stop at the Brick Yard in the afternoon for a burgerbasket with proceeds also going to Special Olympics.

LET’S ALL ‘RALLY’ TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE on Thursday, August 26, 2010. Registration 8a, Shotgun Start at 9a, and a complimentary lunch at noon. Three woman teams with a shotgun start - 9 hole scramble. Entry fee: $20.00 per player ($60.00 per team) Make checks payable to: Rally for the Cure Limited Space Available – Call the MUNI to reserve your spot 362 5950. This event was underwritten by an anonymous donor of the Hibbing Foundation which includes green fee, continental breakfast and lunch.

All funds raised from the event will be used for the Project Care Free Medical Clinic. The free health care clinic is located at 3112 Sixth Ave E. and is currently open two Thursday evenings a month. A Duke Skorich Fundraiser will be held on Wednesday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at the lower level parking lot of the Fairview University Medical Center, near the main entrance. Beef and pork sandwiches will be available for $5. Pre- orders are available by calling 263-8549.

Primary Election - Tuesday, August 10th

Due to a change in federal law, the Minnesota Primary Election will be held on August 10, 2010.

Precincts will be open from 7:00 am until 8:00 p.m on the 10th and if you can't make it that day, you may vote absentee in the City Finance office on Saturday and Monday.

Hibbing offices to be narrowed to two candidates through the primary election are:

Extended Hours for Absentee Voting

Pursuant to Minnesota Election Laws 203B.085, the City of Hibbing Clerk's Office will be open at the following times in addition to their regular hours in order to issue absentee ballots:

August 7, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
August 9, 2010 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

MDHA Youth Day

MDHA Youth Day The Hibbing/Chisholm Chapter of MDHA will hold a YOUTH DAY on SAT., AUGUST 7TH at the Mid-Range Marksmanship Center in Hibbing.

This will be an all-day event and area youth will have the opportunity to experience: Archery, Muzzleloaders, Small Bore Rifles, Trapshooting, Air Guns and Video Hunting! In addition there will be instruction on safety, ethics, survival & waterfowl calling.

All participants will receive a MDHA Youth Day hat and lunch.

Prizes will be awarded. Limited to 10 to 18 year olds.

There is no charge, but all participants must pre-register by August 3rd, 2010. Space is limited so register early to avoid disappointment! Advance registration is absolutely required!

Any youth who does not have a firearms safety certificate must be accompanied by an adult. All parents and guardians are invited to join us for the day.

Welcome to the American Legion State Baseball Tournament

American Legion Post 222 will be hosting the State Baseball Tournament from
July 29 through August 1, 2010 in Hibbing.

Game times for Thursday, July 29, through Saturday, July 31 are 10:00 am, 1:00 pm,
4:30 pm and 7:30 pm at the Al Nyberg field.

The championship game is Sunday, August 1 at 1:00 pm.

Pier Country Dinner Show

Dinner and music theater show, featuring food by Donna J’s and music by Pier Country. A dinner of roast beef and turkey will be served, starting with a salad plate at 5:45 p.m, Saturday, July 31, at the Little Theater in the Hibbing Memorial Building. A concert featuring members of Pier Country will begin at 7 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m., with dessert and refreshments to follow.

Cost is $25 at the door and $20 in advance. Tickets can be purchased at Erickson Lumber and the Hibbing Memorial Building Office. For more information, call 966-0300.

Hibbing Sidewalk Days & Kid's Fun Festival

Sidewalk Sales will be held at businesses all over town on Thursday, July 15th. Additional activities, vendors and great sales will be held downtown on Howard Street from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

From 2:00-7:00 PM, the Hibbing Kiwanis Little Ones Indoor Park Committee is hosting a Kids' Fun Festival on Howard Street. Activities include bounce houses, hot dogs, face painting, and a chance to dunk some of Hibbing's finest. At our "Soak a Politician" dunk tank, Mayor Rick Wolff, Judge Mark Starr, County Attorney Melanie Ford, Hibbing Councilors Tim Harkonen and Jack Lund, and candidates Tim Kaminski, Lee Langer, Red Lowan, Barry Collins, and Jeff Young are generously donating their time and body temperatures to raise money for the park!

Hibbing Jubilee - July 10th!

The Hibbing Jubilee will start off with the 4th Annual Business After Hours Jubilee Raffle at Mr. Nick's Corner Bar on Thursday July 8th from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 10th will be a full day of events!

Enjoy the Miners Fly In - Drive In Breakfast out at the Airport from 8a - 1P. All you can eat breakfast for just $5.00. Prize drawings for kids.

The Sweetest Grand parade starts at 3:00 p.m. watch great floats and old favorites including the Hibbing High School Marching Band and many many more!

Vendors will be selling food, beverages and trinkets before, during and after the parade.

The Street Dance starts at 5p and goes until midnight with three stages of music.
  • The 1st Avenue Stage will have the Blue Wolf Band & Guests playing from 5p to midnight.
  • The 5th Avenue Stage will have the Pour Boyz from 5-8p and The Six 9's from 8a-midnight.
  • The 6th Avenue Stage will have Shamrock'd playing from 5p to midnight
