Flu Shot Season is here!

Local pharmacies and clinics are offering influenza vaccination events in coming days. Shots also are available by appointment.

General Public flu shot 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.Wednesday, Oct. 20
General Public flu shot 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 2
General Public flu shot 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 10

• Thrifty White Pharmacy Senior Expo flu shots 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14

• Hibbing Family Medical Clinic Flu shot day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21

• Essentia Health Hibbing Clinic Flu shot clinic 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and Nov. 3

How to protect yourself and others from the flu:
• Get vaccinated.
• Avoid exposure to people who are sick with flu-like illnesses.
• Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
• Take special care of infants by keeping them from exposure to large crowds when flu is prevalent in the community and avoid close contact between the child and sick family members.
• Don’t share cups or straws.
• Clean commonly touched surfaces often such as door knobs, refrigerator handles, phones and water faucets.
• Don’t smoke near children.

This week at the Library

Tuesday -
  • Story Time is a program for pre-schoolers with books, songs and the “Letter of the Week.” Open play if time permits. Volunteers are needed for craft projects. 10:00 a.m. every Tuesday through early December
  • Annual meeting of the Friends of the Library will be held October 5th at 6:30 p.m. The election of officers is held and planning for annual events will begin. All Friends also get a special preview to the Book Sale Tuesday, October 5, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Memberships can be purchased at the book sale or anytime at the Hibbing Public Library’s front desk
Wednesday -
  • Friends of the Hibbing Public Library Annual Book Sale will be Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Hibbing Public Library Auditorium. There will be a great selection of books and more at affordable prices. The dollar bag sale will begin at 5:00 p.m.
Thursday
  • Toddle Time - at the library a program for toddlers aged 2-3 years with books, songs and finger plays. Open play if time permits. 10:00 a.m. every Thursday through early December.
  • The Great Books Group is being reorganized starting Thursday, October 7th at 6:30 p.m. All readers are invited to join in the discussion of some of our important writings from ancient to modern times. The monthly discussions will be facilitated by James Huber, Ph.D., a local psychologist. Refreshments will be provided. The books that will be used can be checked out at the front desk of the Hibbing Public Library before the first October meeting. All you need is a library card.
